Patriots Add Pitcher Anthony Claggett, Ricky Brooks, And James Baker

The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have signed right-handed pitcher Anthony Claggett, right-handed pitcher Ricky Brooks, and right-handed pitcher James Baker.

Claggett has pitched at the Major League level for the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He has five seasons of Triple-A experience with the Detroit Tigers, Yankees, and Pirates organizations.

Claggett spent 42 games in Double-A in Altoona in 2011 and finished with a 3.75 ERA in 62.1 innings pitched.

Claggett has a minor league career 35-26 record with a 3.32 ERA, 39 saves, and 361 strikeouts in 482 innings pitched in 268 games.

Brooks has experience in the Chicago White Sox and New York Mets organizations, including three seasons of Double-A experience.

He finished the 2011 season with a 3.95 ERA and appeared in 82 innings in 53 games for Binghamtom.

Brooks has a career ERA of 4.41 and 427 strikeouts in 510.2 innings pitched in 223 games.

The Patriots have acquired the rights to Baker through a trade for cash considerations with the Gary South Shore Railcats. He had a 3-1 record, a 2.57 ERA, and 68 strikeouts in 49 innings pitched in 42 games last season for the Railcats.

Baker has a minor league career 17-14 record, a 3.53 ERA, and 218 strikeouts in 247 innings pitched in 195 games.
