Patriots Win 4th In A Row With 3-0 Shutout

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 3-0 before 6,513 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

Jesse Hoorelbeke (3) got the Patriots on the board with a solo home run in the second inning.

Somerset made it a 2-0 game on an RBI single by Yusuf Carter, plating Aaron Mathews, who drew a walk earlier in the frame.

The Patriots extended the lead in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Johnny Drennen for a 3-0 advantage.

Patriots starting pitcher Paul Phillips (1-0) got the win after tossing five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and striking out four batters.  Rayner Oliveros (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs on six hits in 3.2 innings pitched.  Josh Rupe picked up his second save of the season after pitching a scoreless ninth.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 pm game against the Blue Crabs. The game includes Stress Balls for the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Sybase Match Play Championship. The first 2,000 fans will also receive an Autograph Book and there will be a Pre-Game Autograph Session and a chance for all kids to run the bases after the game.
