BARNSTORMERS EDGE PATRIOTS 6-5 AS TERRY TIFFEE CLUBS THREE HOMERS

Lancaster, PA – The Lancaster Barnstormers (17-15) defeated the Somerset Patriots (15-16) 6-5 Wednesday night at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Barnstormers designated hitter Terry Tiffee hit three home runs and totaled four RBIs to propel the Barnstormers to victory. Tiffee became only the second Barnstormers player in ball club history to hit three home runs in one game. The other was Bryant Nelson back in 2010.

Jeff Nettles had three RBI tonight in the 6-5 loss

The Barnstormers scored in the first inning as Tiffee clubbed a two-run home run (6) to deep right field to give the Barnstormers a 2-0 advantage.

The Barnstormers scored again in the third frame as center fielder Adam Godwin laced an RBI triple down the right field line to expand the lead to 3-0.

Tiffee hit another home run (7) this time in the third inning. This was a solo blast to deep right center field as the Barnstormers added to their lead making the score 4-0.

In the top of the fourth inning Patriots third baseman Jeff Nettles dunked a two RBI single into right field to cut the deficit in half making the score 4-2 in favor of the Barnstormers.

In the top of the fifth inning Patriots second baseman Dan DeGeorge smacked an RBI double down the left field line as the Patriots continued to chip away making the score 4-3.

Tiffee continued his power surge in the fifth frame with a solo home run (8) to right center field which was his third round tripper of the game. Two batters later left fielder Blake Gailen hit a solo home run (4) as the Barnstormers doubled up the Patriots 6-3.

In the ensuing half inning Nettles would collect his third RBI of the game via a sacrifice fly making the score 6-4 as the Barnstormers still led.

In the top of the ninth inning Patriots first baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke hit a towering home run (8) to left field to make the score 6-5 which would end up being the final.
