Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (16-21) play the Lancaster Barnstormers (21-16) at 7:05 p.m. from TD Bank Ballpark. This is the final series between these two Freedom Division foes in the first half. The Barnstormers have won five of the first seven meetings.

Justin Cassel is fifth in the Atlantic League in strikeouts with 35 on the season

Crucial Stretch

The Patriots are currently five games back of first place in the Freedom Division. They play the Barnstormers and Skeeters nine times over the next eight days. This is Somerset’s chance to make a run as there are just six weeks left in the first half of play.

Bullpen Stronger

Since the calendar turned to June, the Somerset Patriots bullpen has tossed 13.1 innings and allowed just one run. Players have found their niche in the ‘pen.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Tonight will be a rematch of last Thursday’s pitching matchup when righty hurlers Justin Cassel and Alan Johnson squared off at Clipper Magazine Stadium. Cassel suffered the loss going six innings and giving up five runs. Johnson earned a no decision after throwing a quality start as he went six frames allowing two runs.
