July 8th Game Notes; Patriots @ Blue Crabs

Waldorf, MD – Today the Somerset Patriots (34-35) visit the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (30-39) at 2:05 p.m. from Regency Furniture Stadium for the final game of this four game weekend series. This is the final game of the first half for both these clubs. Next week is the All-Star break.

The Patriots will be looking for the sweep as they have won the first three games by scores of 11-5, 4-1 and 5-0. Last night the Patriots shutout an opponent for the seventh time this season. Below are highlights from last night’s thrilling victory courtesy of WCTC.

Somerset is 23-13 when they score first yet they are only 11-22 when the opponent scores first.

All-Star lefty Roy Merritt toes the rubber for the Patriots while fellow southpaw hurler Hunter Jones takes the hill for the Blue Crabs. Merritt has the fifth best ERA in the Atlantic League.
