Lancaster, PA – On Saturday, August 4th Somerset Patriots’ slugger Jake Fox had his contract purchased by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA organization for the Philiadelphia Phillies. Fox was one of the greatest midseason acquisitions in Patriots history. Despite the fact he was only a member of the red, white and blue for three weeks, he quickly became a clubhouse leader and focal point of the offense.
Fox was versatile as he played outfield, infield and catcher. He was signed to start the second half of the season on July 13th. In 21 games as a member of Somerset, Fox hit safely in 18 of them. He clubbed seven home runs and a tallied a remarkable 20 RBI. He recorded eight multi-hit games and had two different eight game hitting streaks.
Fox was a former Major Leaguer with the Baltimore Orioles, Oakland A’s and Chicago Cubs. He was appreciative of his time in Somerset with the Patriots and is now trying to rekindle some magic and get back to the big leagues.
Best of luck Jake! Once a Patriot, always a Patriot!
