Bridgeport, CT – The Somerset Patriots (17-18, 52-53) and the Bridgeport Bluefish (17-15, 48-54) Friday night contest at Harbor Yard has been postponed due to rain.

The Patriots had a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning with one out when rain came pouring down and eventually forced the contest to be canceled. The game was not an official game so none of the statistics will count and the teams will have to start over. There will now be doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 2:05 p.m. with two seven inning games separated by a 30 minute intermission.

Tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. the series resumes as righty Justin Cassel (4-8, 2.86 ERA) pitches for the Patriots as he’ll battle southpaw Gilbert De La Vara (8-6, 3.55 ERA) of the Bluefish.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, August 24th when they return home to take on the York Revolution. The game includes 15th Anniversary Back To School Folders (1st 1,500 Kids) courtesy of Somerset County Education Association and entertainment from the ZOOperstars. For tickets, call (908) 252-0700 or visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
