Bridgeport, CT – Today the Somerset Patriots (18-18, 53-53) visit the Bridgeport Bluefish (17-16, 48-55) at 2:05 p.m. from Harbor Yard for a doubleheader affair. Game one is at 2:05 p.m. and game two will be 30 minutes after game one. Both contests will be seven innings. The Patriots won the series opener on Thursday night 4-2. The Patriots have reached the .500 mark for the first time since July 27th.
Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .318 with three home runs and 15 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half.
Four Is The Magic Number
In the second half of the season when the Patriots score four runs or more they are 15-4. When they score three runs or fewer they are 3-14.
The Patriots are 9-2 when Freddie Bynum bats leadoff. The All-Star ignites the team and provides a spark.
