Camden, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (20-21, 55-56) defeated the Camden Riversharks (15-23, 49-58) 6-4 Wednesday night from Campbell’s Field. Right fielder Colin Curtis had just four RBI in his first 13 games as a Patriot but on Wednesday he matched his season output as he drove in four runs. The Patriots have now won two of the first three games in this four game midweek series.
Somerset scored three runs in the top of the third inning to take an early 3-0 lead. Curtis smashed a two RBI double and first baseman Corey Smith laced a RBI single.
Camden scratched across a run in the home half of the fourth inning as center fielder Chris Walker collected a RBI via a fielder’s choice to make the score 3-1.
The Riversharks took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Third baseman Pedro Feliz slugged a solo home run (8) and shortstop Paddy Matera blasted a go ahead two run home run (5) to give the Riversharks a 4-3 advantage.
The Patriots retook the lead in the sixth inning as they batted around. Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez smacked a game tying RBI single which extended his hitting streak to nine games and Curtis recorded another two RBI double as the Patriots led 6-4 which would be the final.
Doug Arguello earned his sixth win of the season and first since July 13th. Kevin Reese suffered his sixth loss of the year. Andrew Dobies remained perfect in save situations as he notched his 10th save in 10 opportunities.
The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, August 24th when they return home to take on the York Revolution.
