September 1st Game Notes; Patriots @ Bluefish

Bridgeport, CT – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (23-27, 58-62) visit the Bridgeport Bluefish (22-24, 53-63) in the second game of this three game weekend series. The Patriots trailed 3-1 after four innings last night but scored eight unanswered runs to win the series opener 9-3. No Broadcast On WCTC

Due to the Rutgers football season opener against Tulane, WCTC will not be broadcasting tonight’s Patriots baseball game. Instead WCTC will broadcast the Rutgers football game. There will be a postgame recap immediately after the game on the blog plus the team twitter handle @SOMPatriots will have thorough updates on the game.

The Patriots have hit just one home run in their last 12 games.

The Patriots are currently 5.5 games behind the Revolution in the Wild Card standings.

Sanchez Sizzling

Shortstop Yunesky Sanchez hit just .212 in the first half of the season but in the second half he has turned his season around. Since the All-Star break he’s hitting .325 with three home runs and 21 RBI. He had 11 RBI the entire first half. He has hit safely in 15 of his last 16 games.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Lefty Doug Arguello toes the rubber for Somerset while righty hurler Jonah Bayliss is on the hill for the Bluefish.
