Central Islip, NY – The Somerset Patriots (25-28, 60-63) rallied to defeat the Long Island Ducks (15-35, 54-65) 4-3 Monday night from Bethpage Ballpark in the first game of this three game midweek series. The Patriots trailed 3-1 after seven innings but scored three unanswered runs in the final two frames to collect their 24th come from behind win of the season.

The Ducks took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as designated hitter Lee Cruz blasted a two run home run (2) to straight away center field.

Long Island scored again in the home half of the third inning as third baseman Bryant Nelson slugged a line drive solo home run (12) to left field to make the score 3-0.

The Patriots scored in the top of the sixth inning as shortstop Yunesky Sanchez extended his hitting streak to nine games by slicing a RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Somerset rallied for three runs in the top of the eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead. Designated hitter Jesse Hoorelbeke slugged a towering game tying two run home run (19) and then catcher Adam Donachie socked a go ahead two out RBI single.

Carlton Smith earned his third win of the season. Jeremy Hill suffered his sixth loss of the year. Brandon Braboy notched his second save in as many opportunities.

The 2012 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, September 7th when the Patriots return home to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers at 7:05 p.m. The game features a Post-Game Fireworks Show and Diabetes Awareness Night.
