PATRIOTS OUTLAST REVOLUTION BY WINNING 7-4 IN 14 INNINGS

York, PA – The Somerset Patriots (13-4) defeated the York Revolution (9-9) 7-4 in a lengthy back and forth 14 inning affair Monday afternoon from Sovereign Bank Stadium in the first game of this four game midweek series featuring these Freedom Division Foes. The Patriots won their fifth consecutive game and were victorious for the 10th time in their last 11 contests.

The Patriots plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning as designated hitter Mike Wilson tallied an RBI via a sacrifice fly and first baseman Eddy Martinez-Esteve socked a RBI double making the score 2-0 in favor of Somerset.

York tied the contest at 2-2 as second baseman Andres Perez and first baseman Brian Burgamy each tallied two out RBI singles in the fifth inning.

Somerset retook the lead in the top of the sixth inning as Martinez-Esteve laced a RBI single through the right side making the score 3-2.

The Revolution showcased resiliency once again as they tied the game at 3-3 as center field Tyler Graham smacked a RBI single in the ensuing half inning.

The Patriots responded quickly in the top of the seventh inning as they grabbed the lead. Catcher Jake Fox broke the tie with a RBI single making the score 4-3.

Graham delivered again in the bottom of the eighth inning as he blooped a game tying RBI single to left field evening the score at 4-4.

The Patriots took the lead for good in the top of the 14th inning. Shortstop Bobby Stevens slugged a leadoff home run (1) deep over the left field wall to give the Patriots a 5-4 lead. Somerset would tack on two more insurance runs as third baseman Corey Smith would collect an RBI via a fielder’s choice and an additional run came across on Burgamy’s fielding error at first base making the score 7-4 which would be the final.

In the bottom of the 14th inning closer Jon Hunton would strand the bases loaded to notch his seventh consecutive save. David Harden (2-0) earned the win pitching three scoreless innings. Kris Regas (0-1) suffered the loss.
