Central Islip, NY – Today the Somerset Patriots (15-6) visit the Long Island Ducks (6-15) at Bethpage Ballpark for a day-night doubleheader. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. Game one will be at 1:05 p.m. and game two will be at 7:05 p.m. Each contest will be the usual nine innings.  The Patriots won the series opener last night 10-9 in a thrilling affair. It was Somerset’s eighth come from behind win on the season.

The key to last night’s victory over the reigning Atlantic League Champion Ducks was in the top of the sixth inning when Dan Hennigan executed a perfect safety squeeze to plate Luis Montanez and tie the contest at 6-6. Here’s the audio clip of the gutsy play courtesy of WCTC.

Starting Pitching Matchup Game One

Righty Brad Thompson (2-1, 2.84 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Connor Graham (1-1, 5.58 ERA) will take the hill for the Ducks.

Starting Pitching Matchup Game Two

Lefty Graham Taylor (1-0, 2.40 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow southpaw Matt Way (1-0, 2.45 ERA) will take the hill for the Ducks.

The Sugar Land Skeeters (19-3) currently lead the Freedom Division by 3.5 games over the Patriots.

Jake Can Rake

Jake Fox leads the Atlantic League with nine home runs. He also leads the Atlantic League in total bases with 56.

Pounding The Zone

The Patriots pitching staff has accumulated 147 strikeouts thus far compared to just 48 walks. That’s good for an impressive 3 to 1 strikeout to walk ratio.

Closing Time

Jon Hunton leads the Atlantic League in saves with nine. He has converted his last nine save opportunities successfully.

Hitting Streaks

Mike Wilson has a nine game hitting streak. Luis Montanez and Corey Smith each have seven game hitting streaks.
