Sugar Land, TX – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (28-11) visit the Sugar Land Skeeters (31-11) for the third game a pivotal four game wrap around weekend series featuring these Freedom Division foes. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. eastern time at Constellation Field. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. Somerset has won the first two games of the series outscoring the Skeeters 13-4 in the two contests.

Last night Patriots leadoff hitter Jonny Tucker smacked a solo home run to left-center field on the third pitch of the game and this is how it sounded courtesy of WCTC.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Paul Phillips (2-1, 4.95 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Michael (5-0, 0.69 ERA) will take the hill for the Skeeters.

Freedom Division Update

The Sugar Land Skeeters (31-11) currently lead the Freedom Division by 1.5 games over the Patriots. Somerset has played three fewer games than Sugar Land. Since starting the season 22-3, Sugar Land is just 9-8 in their last 17 games.

Somerset is 5-0 on games played on Sunday.

Ahron Eggleston is the midst of a 11 game hitting streak in which over that span he is hitting .457 (21-for-46).

Something Has To Give

The Patriots have the best team batting average (.306) in the Atlantic League while the Skeeters have the best team ERA (2.65) in the Atlantic League.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Josh Pressley was a five time All-Star, two time Atlantic League Champion and 2008 MVP with Somerset. This year the former Patriot is 9-for-21 (.429) against his former ball club.

Jake Can Rake

Jake Fox leads the Atlantic League with 13 home runs.

E-Mart Swag

Eddy Martinez-Esteve leads the Atlantic League in batting average hitting at a tremendous .391 clip. He has a comfortable 43 point lead over the next best hitter in the league which is Brian Burgamy of York. Martinez-Esteve has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 games and has 12 multi-hit games over his last 18 contests. He currently has a nine game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 19 straight games.

Better Than Average

The Patriots have five players in the top 15 in the Atlantic League in batting average: Martinez-Esteve (1st .391), Eggleston (T-4th, .340), Montanez (T-6th, .336), Smith (T-8th, .331), Fox (13th, .313)

The Patriots are 25-5 when they score four or more runs. The Patriots are 3-6 when they score 3 or fewer runs.
