Sugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (32-12) salvaged the final game of a four game series against the Somerset Patriots (29-12) by winning 4-2 Monday evening from Constellation Field.
Somerset plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Center fielder Luis Montanez poked a RBI double down the left field line and first baseman Eddy Martinez-Esteve tallied a run via a sacrifice fly.
Sugar Land took a 3-2 lead in the ensuing half inning which they would not relinquish as first baseman Aaron Bates hit a RBI ground out to shortstop and catcher Koby Clemens blasted a two run home run (8) to left field.
Third baseman Travis Scott spanked a towering solo home run (1) down the right field line to expand Sugar Land’s lead to 4-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning which would be the final.
Jason Lane (4-2) earned the win tossing seven innings scattering just two hits. Graham Taylor suffered the loss (3-2) allowing 10 hits in seven innings of work. Jason Bergmann earned his 12th save in as many opportunities pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
