Camden, NJ – The Camden Riversharks (15-31) won 6-2 in the rubber game of a three game midweek series against the Somerset Patriots (30-14) Thursday afternoon from Campbell’s Field.
In the bottom of the first inning shortstop Delwyn Young poked a RBI single up the middle to give the Riversharks an early 1-0 lead.
Young hit a towering solo home run (3) to deep right field in the bottom of the third inning to increase Camden’s lead to 2-0.
Somerset tied the contest at 2-2 in the top of the fourth inning as right fielder Luis Montanez hit a line drive two run home run (5) down the left field line.
In the ensuing half inning Camden retook the lead which they would not relinquish on designated hitter Yasser Gomez’s two out RBI single that gave the Riversharks a 3-2 advantage.
Catcher Salomon Manriquez added a two RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to expand Camden’s lead to 5-2.
Young recorded his third RBI of the game in the eighth inning as he ripped a double to plate a run and make the score 6-2 which would be the final.
Armando Gabino (2-3) earned the win tossing five innings allowing two runs on four hits. David Harden (6-1) suffered the loss lasting five frames while giving up three runs and issuing a season-high 10 hits.
