June 9th Game Notes; Skeeters @ Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ – Today the Somerset Patriots (32-14) host the Sugar Land Skeeters (33-15) for matinee affair at TD Bank Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. The Patriots swept a doubleheader against the Skeeters yesterday winning 4-2 and 2-1 respectively. Somerset has won six of the nine meetings against Sugar Land this year. This is the final meeting in the first half between these two Freedom Division foes.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Josh Lowey (5-2, 3.68 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Matt Wright (6-0, 2.54 ERA) will take the hill for the Skeeters.

The Sugar Land Skeeters (33-15) currently are tied with the Somerset Patriots (32-14) for first place. Somerset has played two fewer games than Sugar Land.

The Patriots have the best team batting average (.299) in the Atlantic League while the Skeeters have the best team ERA in the Atlantic League (2.85).

The Patriots are 6-0 this season on games played on Sunday.

Jake Can Rake

Jake Fox leads the Atlantic League in home runs (15), RBI (41), and total bases (105).

E-Mart Swag

Eddy Martinez-Esteve leads the Atlantic League in batting average hitting at a tremendous .373 clip. He has a comfortable 35 point lead over the next best hitter in the league which is Andy Marte of York. Martinez-Esteve has hit safely in 22 of his last 25 games. He has reached base safely in 23 of his last 25 contests.
