626foxBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Camden Riversharks 6-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Wednesday evening.

Somerset struck first in the bottom of the first after Jake Fox drove a two run homerun (21) over the left field wall for the 2-0 lead.

Camden cut the lead to one in the third on an RBI groundout by Johnny Drennen.

The Patriots answered right back in the bottom half of the frame on an RBI base hit by Jonny Tucker to extend their lead to 3-1.

An RBI double by James Skelton in the sixth tacked on another run for Somerset to make the score 4-1.

Fox continued to drive in runs as he brought home two more in the eighth on an two run single to increase Somerset’s lead to 6-1.

Patriots starter Josh Lowey (7-3) got the win after allowing a run in seven innings while striking out eight.  Armando Gabino (2-6) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings pitched.  Jim Hoey came in to pitch the final two innings to collect his first save of the season.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Thursday evening when the Patriots take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 pm.
