630arnesenBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Long Island Ducks 7-1 in front of 5,167 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday afternoon.

The Patriots scored first in the third inning after Bobby Stevens (2) drove a solo homerun over the left field wall for the 1-0 lead.

A sacrifice fly by Jeff Baisley and an RBI single by Cory Aldridge brought home two more runs for Somerset to extend their lead to 3-0 in the fifth.

The Patriots tacked on three more runs the following inning on an RBI base hit by Eddy Martinez-Esteve and a fielding error by Joash Brodin to make the score 6-0.

Adam Donachie (5) drove a solo homerun over the left field wall in the seventh inning to make the score 7-0.

An error by the Patriots in the ninth allowed an unearned run to score for the 7-1 final.

Patriots starter Erik Arnesen (6-1) got the win after giving up an unearned run in eight innings pitched.  Pete Budkevics (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering three runs on five hits in five innings pitched.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue at home on Monday evening when the Patriots take on the Long Island Ducks at 7:05 pm.
