Patriots Walk Off With 14 Inning Win

71stevensBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Long Island Ducks 6-5 on a walk off home run in the bottom of the 14th inning by Bobby Stevens (3) at TD Bank Ballpark on Monday evening. 

Back to back solo homeruns by Joash Brodin (8) and Josh Barfield (3) and a two run single by Ralph Henriquez plated four runs and gave Long Island a 4-0 lead to start the game.

The Patriots got on the board in the second on RBI base hits from Jonny Tucker and Stevens to cut the lead to 4-2.

The Ducks tacked on a run in the fourth on a homerun by  Henriquez (4).

Somerset rallied to plate three runs in the bottom of the fifth after Jeff Baisley was hit by a pitch, Corey Smith singled, and Eddy Martinez-Esteve scored on a wild pitch to make the score 5-5.

Derell McCall (2-0) picked up the win, pitching four scoreless innings of relief. Nick DeBarr (0-6) suffered the loss, allowing a run on four hits in four innings pitched.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Friday, July 5th when the Patriots return home to take on the Camden Riversharks at 7:05 pm.
