Sugar Land, TX – The Sugar Land Skeeters (8-1, 55-24) shutout the Somerset Patriots (2-7, 48-31) 3-0 Sunday evening from Constellation Field. The Patriots have now lost a season-high five games in a row.
In the bottom of the third inning first baseman Travis Scott slugged a two run home run (5) to deep right field to give the Skeeters an early 2-0 lead.
Sugar Land added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning as catcher Koby Clemens brought home a run via a RBI fielder’s choice to make the contest 3-0 which would be the final score.
Greg Aquino (4-0) earned the win tossing seven brilliant innings while allowing just two hits. Brad Thompson (5-4) suffered the loss as he hurled a complete game scattering just six hits and three runs. Gary Majewski notched his sixth save of the year.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Thursday, July 18th when the Patriots return home to take on the Lancaster Barnstormers at 7:05 p.m. The game features Jewish Heritage Night presented by the Jewish National Fund.
