Patriots Walk Off With 8-7 Win

723winBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the York Revolution 8-7 in front of 6,221 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon.

Somerset rallied from a 7-5 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning to plate three runs, the final one on a bases loaded walk to Adam Donachie that sealed the win.

The Patriots struck first, scoring four runs in the first inning highlighted by a three run blast by Cory Aldridge (7) for the 4-0 lead. It was Aldridge’s second straight at bat going back to last night with a three run home run.

York chipped away at Somerset’s lead in the top of the fourth on a two run homerun by Cody Johnson (10) to make the score 4-2.

Andy Marte (17) drove a three run homerun over the outfield wall to lead York to a four run fifth inning to take a 6-4 lead over the Patriots heading into the bottom half of the frame.

Somerset cut the lead to one in the bottom half of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Jake Fox to make the score 6-5.

An RBI single by Ruddy Yan in the seventh tacked on another run for York to extend their lead to 7-5.

Carlton Smith (1-0) got the win in relief, allowing a run in two innings pitched. Juan Rincon (1-6) took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in 0.2 innings pitched.
