Fox Does It Again For Patriots

803foxBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 5-4 in 11 innings in front of 5,059 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

For the second straight night, Jake Fox won it for the Patriots with a walk off single. Tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 11th, Fox came up with the bases loaded and delivered the game winner into left center field.

Southern Maryland struck first in the top of the third on a two run single by Renny Osuna to take a 2-0 lead.

The Patriots answered back with a run in the bottom half of the frame after Jonny Tucker drove a single to left field to cut the lead to 2-1.

A sacrifice fly in the fourth by Alvin Colina plated another run for the Blue Crabs to make the score 3-1.

Southern Maryland tacked on another run the following inning on a sacrifice by Brian Barton for the 4-1 advantage.

Jorge Cortes and Bobby Stevens both had RBI base hits in the sixth for Somerset to cut the deficit to 4-3.

The Patriots tied the game at four in the seventh after Cory Aldridge drove an RBI double to left field to make the score 4-4 heading into the top of the eighth.

Derell McCall (4-0) picked up the win with a scoreless inning pitched. Jeff Stevens (3-2) suffered the loss, allowing a run in 0.1 innings pitched.
