lowey throwingBridgewater, NJ- The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Somerset Patriots 1-0 at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday evening.

A solo homerun to left by Yusuf Carter (12) in the fifth got Bridgeport on the board to make the score 1-0.

The loss ended a six game winning streak for the Patriots.

Somerset had a chance to do some damage with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, but failed to plate any runs.

Bridgeport starter Miguel Martinez (2-4) got the win after tossing eight scoreless innings and striking out four. Josh Lowey (10-6) suffered the loss for Somerset, surrendering a run while striking out six in eight innings of work. Jeff Fulchino came on to pitch the ninth inning to pick up his 12th save of the season.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue on Wednesday when they take on the Bridgeport Bluefish in a day-night double header. Game one will start at 11:05 am and Game two is set for 7:05 pm. The first 2,000 fans in attendance for the night game will receive a Shane Spencer Bobble Head Doll courtesy of Sanofi.
