York, PA – The Somerset Patriots (28-17, 74-41) beat the York Revolution (20-27, 56-61) 3-2 Tuesday evening from Sovereign Bank Stadium in front of 2,938 fans. The Patriots clinched the three game series.

In the top of the first inning first baseman Jeff Baisley and right fielder Jorge Cortes recorded RBI singles to give the Patriots an early 2-0 advantage.

Left fielder Aharon Eggleston scored on a wild pitch issued by Beau Vaughan in the top of the third inning as Somerset expanded its lead to 3-0.

In the bottom of the seventh inning York got on the scoreboard as right fielder Michael Hernandez slugged a solo home run (2) to left-center field to make the score 3-1.

Pinch hitter Salvador Paniagua sliced a RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning to cut the deficit in half and make the score 3-2 which would be the final.

Roy Merritt (2-2) earned the win as he hurled five scoreless innings. Vaughan (1-1) suffered the loss as he lasted five innings and surrendered three runs. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 31st save of the year.
