Championship Series Game Five Notes & Preview

Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (5-2, 90-49) host the Long Island Ducks (5-2, 63-77) for the fifth and decisive game of the best of five 2013 Atlantic League Championship Series featuring this New Jersey and New York rivalry. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. from TD Bank Ballpark. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. The Ducks won the first two games but the Patriots responded be being victories the last two times.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty David Harden (1-0, 2.70 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler John Brownell (2-0, 2.12 ERA) will take the hill for the Flock. David Harden was 3-0 in four appearances with a 4.70 ERA against Duck pitching. John Brownell will be pitching on three days’ rest after winning game one of the series Wednesday when he threw eight innings allowing just two runs. In the regular season against Somerset he was 1-0 in five starts with a 2.76 ERA.

Amazing Aldridge

Cory Aldridge has set an Atlantic League postseason record belting six home runs. Previously, Ryan Harvey (had five round trippers in 2012) held the AL record for most home runs in one postseason by a single player.

Postseason Party

The Patriots have made the playoffs for the first time since 2010. The Ducks are looking to join the Patriots and Revolution as the only teams to win back-to-back titles in Atlantic League history.
