Fox was named the Atlantic League Player of the Year earlier this week. He was leading the Atlantic League with 25 home runs and 82 RBI and was among the league leaders in several offensive categories including a .310 batting average before signing to play for the Arizona Diamondbacks and reporting to Triple-A in early August.
“Jake is a guy that makes everybody around him better. His play on the field speaks for itself, but he is an even better person and teammate. People feed off his energy and leadership. I am truly happy for Jake as he deserves any and all accolades,” said Brett Jodie, manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
Despite playing in 96 games, Fox’s numbers still rank among the top in the league against players that played an entire season with their teams.
From August 2nd through 4th, Fox had a streak of three consecutive games with walk off hits.
Lowey finished among the league leaders in several pitching categories. He had a team best 14 wins, a 2.89 ERA, and 124 strikeouts in 155.2 innings pitched in 26 games.
“Josh is a true talent. I am happy he is being recognized as one of the best players in baseball. He deserves a shot with a Major League organization after a great year for us on and off the field. He has been dominating in all leagues he has pitched in and is a proven winner,” Jodie said.
Three other Atlantic Leaguers made the team including Dwayne Pollok of the Lancaster Barnstormers who was announced as the 2013 Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year. Lancaster’s Jason Urquidez and Southern Maryland Blue Crabs’ Cyle Hankerd were also honored.
