May 5th Game Notes; Patriots @ Barnstormers

Lancaster, PA – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (6-3) travel to the Keystone State to battle the Lancaster Barnstormers (6-3) from Clipper Magazine Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. This is the final game of a four game wrap around weekend series. The series has already featured 11 different lead changes and six different ties. The Stormers have won two of the first three contests thus far.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Gary Moran (0-0, 4.50 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Brian Grening (0-0, 4.50 ERA) will take the hill for the Stormers.

Jonny Tucker (.405) and Nate Spears (.447) are the top two hitters in the Patriots’ lineup respectively. They’re in the top 10 in OBP for all Atlantic Leaguers.

Welcome Back E-Mart

This weekend Somerset welcomed by Eddy Martinez-Esteve. E-Mart was an All-Star last year as he hit .355 for the red, white and blue. With RISP he hit .388 and with two outs and RISP he hit .436.

Tumultuous Travel

Tonight the Somerset Patriots play a 7pm game then have a three hour drive back to Bridgewater. At 6am they have a flight from Newark to Houston followed by a 40 minute drive to Sugar Land. Tuesday night there’s a game at 8pm eastern then a noon eastern game on Wednesday.

Emotional Return

James Skelton played with Somerset last year and tonight he faces his former team. With the Patriots Skelton played in 83 games, hit .268, smacked 4 HRs and drove in 28 RBI.
