Sugar Land, TX – Today the Somerset Patriots (6-5) are in the Lone Star State to battle the Sugar Land Skeeters (6-5) from Constellation Field. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. eastern time.  Download today’s comprehensive game notes. This is the second game of a lengthy six game series as the Patriots are in the midst of a 10 game nonstop road trip. Sugar Land won the series opener 4-2 as third baseman Travis Scott’s two RBI single was the difference.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Erik Arnesen (1-0, 2.76 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Michael Nix (0-1, 1.80 ERA) will take the hill for the Skeeters.

Tumultuous Travel

The Somerset Patriots played a 7:00pm game Monday night then had a three hour drive back to Bridgewater. At 6:00am they had a flight from Newark to Houston followed by a 40 minute drive to Sugar Land. Tuesday there was a game at 8:00pm eastern now a noon eastern game on Wednesday.

Somerset is 5-1 at home but just 1-4 on the road

Playoff Rematch

Last year these two squads met the Freed Division Series first round of the playoffs. Somerset stunned Sugar Land by sweeping them winning three one run games. Sugar Land had 95 regular season wins (most all-time in Atlantic League history) while Somerset had 90 regular season wins (second most all-time in Atlantic League history).

Sluggish Offense

Somerset has combined for just nine hits and four runs in their last three games which were all losses.
