Bridgeport, CT – Today the Somerset Patriots (4-4, 50-27) travel to the Nutmeg State to battle the Bridgeport Bluefish (5-3, 27-51) for a day-night doubleheader. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. and it will be seven innings. First pitch for game two is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. and it will be nine innings. The Somerset Patriots are the 2014 1st Half Liberty Division Champions! This is their 13th Half Title in franchise history as the Patriots are going to the playoffs for some serious September baseball! The Patriots have elected to take the back three games of the first round series at home so they will open up the postseason on the road. Tickets are on sale by calling 908-252-0700.

Emotional Return

Pitcher Matt Sommo returns to Bridgeport for the first time since being released from the organization a couple of weeks ago. Sommo spent the last year and a half with Bridgeport and was born in New Haven, CT. He was 2-0 with a 6.04 ERA in 18 games with the Fish this year before latching on with Somerset.

The Patriots are 44-5 when they score four runs or more but only 6-22 when they score three runs or fewer.
