Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (20-11, 67-34) defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters (17-13, 55-44) 3-1 Saturday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. AUGUST9thGRAPHIC

In the bottom of the first inning center fielder Jonny Tucker smacked a home run (2) to give the Patriots an early 1-0 advantage.

Somerset plated a pair in the bottom of the fifth inning to up the score to 3-0 as a run scored via a fielding error by right fielder Neil Medchill and another crossed via a RBI single by shortstop Scott Kelly.

Left fielder Ryan Langerhans slugged a home run (10) in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 3-1.

Matt Maloney (8-5) earned the win tossing seven innings while allowing one run. Steve Hammond (8-7) sustained the loss lasting five innings while surrendering three runs. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 35th save pitching a perfect ninth.
