Bridgewater, NJ – The Long Island Ducks (22-25, 62-54) defeated the Somerset Patriots (27-20, 74-43) 6-1 Wednesday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. AUGUST27thGRAPHIC

In the top of the first inning center fielder Lew Ford sliced a RBI double and designated hitter Bill Hall tallied a RBI sacrifice fly to give Long Island a 2-0 advantage.

Somerset cut the deficit in half in the ensuing half inning as right fielder Luis Montanez ripped a RBI single making the score 2-1.

The Ducks added to their lead in the top of the second inning as catcher Brandon Bantz belted a RBI triple making the score 3-1.

Bantz hit a RBI infield single to up the score to 4-1 in the top of the third inning.

Long Island plated a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning as left fielder Adam Bailey poked a two RBI single to make the contest 6-1.

Bob Zimmermann (2-2) earned the win in relief. David Harden (1-4) suffered his fourth straight loss.
