Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (28-20, 75-43) defeated the Long Island Ducks (22-26, 62-55) 4-3 Thursday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. AUGUST28thGRAPHIC

In the bottom of the first inning the Patriots plated three runs to take a 3-0 advantage. Right fielder Ty Wright and center fielder Luis Montanez registered RBI singles while third baseman Corey Smith socked a RBI double.

First baseman Joash Brodin hit a RBI groundout in the top of the fourth inning to make the score 3-1.

The Ducks evened the score at 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning as shortstop Dan Lyons roped a RBI double while another run scored via a passed ball charged to catcher Kevin Kotch.

In the bottom of the eighth inning pinch hitter Damaso Espino hit a RBI sacrifice fly to put Somerset in front 4-3.

Jason Lowey (5-1) earned the win in relief. Sergio Perez (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 42nd save.
