Camden, NJ – Today the Somerset Patriots (35-28, 82-51) renew the Turnpike Series as they travel to South Jersey to battle the Camden Riversharks (23-40, 46-87) for the final game of a three game weekend series featuring these Garden State foes. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. from Campbell’s Field. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. The Patriots have already clinched the 2014 Turnpike Cup as they lead the season series 15-4.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Lefty Matt Zielinski (9-7, 3.35 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow southpaw Ryan Kulik (2-6, 5.24 ERA) takes the hill for the Sharks.

Replicating Success

The Patriots are trying to repeat as half division title winners. The magic number is three. They currently lead the 2nd Half Liberty Division standings by 5.0 games over Long Island with 7 games to go. The Ducks own the second half tiebreaker should they both finish with identical second half records.

Closer Jon Hunton leads the Atlantic League with 47 saves. That’s 19 more than anyone else in the league. Hunton has already set the Atlantic League single season saves record as he broke Mike Guilfoyle’s record of 40 done in 2003 with Bridgeport. Hunton has more saves than Bridgeport and Camden do overall wins.

The Somerset Patriots are the 2014 1st Half Liberty Division Champions! This is their 13th Half Title in franchise history as the Patriots are going to the playoffs for some serious September baseball!
