The Somerset Patriots are the 2014 1st Half & 2nd Half Liberty Division Champions! This is their 14th Half Title in franchise history as the Patriots are going to the playoffs for some serious September baseball! The Patriots have elected to take the back three games of the first round series at home so they will open up the postseason on the road. Tickets are on sale by calling 908-252-0700.
Somerset will either play Lancaster or Sugar Land in round one. If the season ended today it’d be Lancaster. The Skeeters magic number to clinch the Second Half Freedom Division is one. Somerset plays the wild card team.
Jake Can Rake
The Patriots have re-signed the reigning Atlantic League MVP Jake Fox. Last year in 96 games Fox hit .310 with 25 HRs and 82 RBI. The prolific slugger has 211 career minor league home runs. Fox has hit safely in all three of his starts thus far.
The Patriots have 39 come from behind wins, 18 wins in their final at bat and seven walk-off wins this year
Closer Jon Hunton leads the Atlantic League with 48 saves. That’s 20 more than anyone else in the league. Hunton has already set the Atlantic League single season saves record as he broke Mike Guilfoyle’s record of 40 done in 2003 with Bridgeport. Hunton has more saves than Bridgeport and Camden do overall wins.
The Patriots are 69-15 when they score four runs or more but only 15-39 when they score three runs or fewer.
Lucky Number Seven
The Patriots are 59-3 when they lead after seven innings
