BLUEFISH RALLY PAST PATRIOTS 6-4 IN GAME ONE OF DOUBLEHEADER

Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Bluefish (29-35, 55-79) defeated the Somerset Patriots (36-28, 86-48) 6-4 Wednesday afternoon at Harbor Yard in game one of a day-night doubleheader.sept16FINALgm1

In the top of the first inning the Patriots plated three runs to grab a 3-0 lead. Designated hitter Thomas Neal poked a RBI single while first baseman Matt Fields pounded a two run home run (3).

Shortstop Matt Burns sliced a RBI double in the bottom of the second inning to cut the deficit to 3-1.

Bridgeport catapulted in front in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 advantage.

The Bluefish added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-3. Third baseman Wilson Batista blasted a home run (4) as did second baseman Juan Martinez (1).

Neal recorded a RBI ground out making the score 6-4 in the top of the seventh inning which would be the final.

Jimmy Patterson earned the win (2-2) in relief. Connor Little (0-1) suffered the loss in relief. Patrick Mincey notched his 25th save.
