York, PA –Tonight the Somerset Patriots (20-15) visit the York Revolution (21-14) for the second game of a four game wrap around Memorial Day Weekend Series. The Patriots are 3-1 against the Revolution this year and lead the all-time series 92-88. Last night the teams combined for six home runs but York outlasted Somerset 7-5.gameday1

Starting Pitching Matchup

Lefty Darin Gorski (2-1, 4.73 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow southpaw Kelvin De La Cruz (3-3, 3.00 ERA) will toss for York.

Battling Through Adversity

After a record setting 13-0 start to usher in 2016, the Patriots are 7-15 in their last 22 games and have lost 10 of their last 13.

Playoff Picture

For the second time all season the Patriots are not in first place. The Ducks lead the Liberty Division by 0.5 games over the Patriots. The Patriots do indeed own the tiebreaker. The Ducks begin a series in Long Island against the New Britain Bees tonight. York is 1.0 game ahead of Sugar Land atop the Freedom Division standings. Sugar Land plays at Lancaster tonight.

Mycal Jones is 15-for-30 (.500) during his season-high eight game hitting streak. He has five steals and five RBI over that span as well.

Last year Aharon Eggleston hit five home runs all year. A quarter of the way through the season he has four which leads the team.

Michael Burgess was on Somerset’s 2015 Championship squad but now plays for the York Revolution. In seven games with York the lefty slugger is hitting .308 with 3 HRs and 10 RBI. Six of his eight hits have gone for extra bases. In 84 games with Somerset last year he hit .251 with 15 HRs and 59 RBI. In 7 playoff games Burgess hit .391 with 3 HRs and 7 RBI.

Somerset has swiped the most bases in the league with 54. That’s 14 more than the next closest team. Nine different players have multiple steals. Scott Kelly leads the league with 15.
