Sugar Land, TX – Tonight the Somerset Patriots (35-25) visit the Sugar Land Skeeters (30-30) for doubleheader. The teams are playing a doubleheader because Thursday’s contest was postponed due to travel issues. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. eastern time from Constellation Field. The second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the first one ends. Each game will be seven innings. Download today’s comprehensive game notes. The Patriots blanked the Skeeters 2-0 last night. It was their first win against Sugar Land in seven tries.  gameday1

Starting Pitching Matchup Game One

Righty Mickey Storey (1-1, 3.05 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow righty hurler Jake Hale (0-1, 3.24 ERA) will toss for Sugar Land. This will be Storey’s first outing since June 5th. He has  missed the last three weeks with a sore right arm.

Starting Pitching Matchup Game Two

Righty Alexis Candelario (0-1, 6.51 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while the Skeeters have yet to announce a starting pitcher. Most likely they will use a slew of bullpen arms.

Playoff Picture

With 10 games remaining, the Patriots lead the Ducks by 2.5 games in the Liberty Division race. Somerset’s lead was as many as 6.0 games. The Patriots do indeed own the tiebreaker. The Ducks are visiting the Bluefish for an evening contest.

Eggs Sunny Side Up

Aharon Eggleston leads the team in batting average hitting at a  .301 clip. He’s hitting .333 this month

Guz Is The Man

During his last 13 games, Carlos Guzman has raised his batting average from .199 to .242. He is 18-for-48 (.375) with 15 RBI and 4 SBs. He has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games. He had 12 total RBI in April/May.

LaHair Hammering Opposition

Bryan LaHair is 16-for-35 (.457) in his last 10 games. He has 3 HRs, 8 BBs, and 10 RBI.

From June 11th to July 9th the Somerset Patriots do not have an off day. They are playing 30 straight games to close the first half.

Somerset has swiped the most bases in the league with 85. That’s 25 more than the next closest team. Scott Kelly leads the league with 23. Mycal Jones is tied for third in league with 19.
