Bridgewater, NJ – Today the Somerset Patriots (35-27, 73-59) host the New Britain Bees (32-30, 68-64) for the rubber game of a three game weekend series. Recap In A Snap

The Patriots trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning Friday night. They mustered only two hits in their first seven frames but recorded two in the eighth and capitalized on two Bees fielding errors to score four in that inning to grab the lead and end up winning by a final of 4-3. Jon Hunton notched his league leading 36th save. Last night the Bees led wire-to-wire as they took advantage of nine walks from Somerset’s pitching staff. The final score was 4-1.

Playoff Picture

There are 8 games to go in the season. Somerset is up 3.0 games on Bridgeport and 3.0 games up on New Britain in the Liberty Division race. The Revs are 0.5 up on the Skeeters in the Freedom Division. The Skeeters lead the Bees by 1.0 games in the Wild Card.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Righty Alexis Candelario (2-1, 5.68 ERA) toes the rubber for Somerset while fellow right hander Nate Roe (5-1, 5.04 ERA) will toss for New Britain. Candelario has won two of his last three starts. Roe is a local product from South Plainfield, NJ and attended Rutgers where he was teammates with Vinny Zarrillo.
