Kelly is playing for the Canberra Cavalry and is currently hitting .340, good for sixth in the league.
The West Windsor native is one of only 11 selected players out of 48 All-Stars who aren’t currently within a Major League organization.
A 25-year old fan favorite, Kelly has played the past three seasons for the Somerset Patriots after making the team in an open tryout in 2014. He hit his first professional home run during the 2016 season and followed it up with his second, a walk-off home run in Game 1 of the Atlantic League Division Series against the Long Island Ducks.
He hit .337 in a shortened 2015 campaign and finished 2016 with a .265. For his Somerset Patriots career, Kelly has 50 RBI and 65 stolen bases in 239 games played.
The Somerset Patriots led the Atlantic League in attendance in 2016, finished with the best regular season record in the league and made their fourth straight trip to the playoffs. The schedule for the 2017 season, which includes the team’s 20th Anniversary and the 2017 Atlantic League All-Star Game at TD Bank Ballpark, has been released.
