PLATINUM ANNIVERSARY: 2017 is Somerset’s 20th season as a franchise, an achievement that will be celebrated all season long. The Patriots are looking to win their 7th Atlantic League Championship in 20 seasons.

MAJOR EXPERIENCE: This year’s version of the Somerset Patriots features a whopping 11 players who have spent time on an MLB roster, as well as nine players who have reached as high as AAA.

NOW WALK IT OUT, WALK IT OUT: Yovan Gonzalez welcomed in the 2017 season with a 10th-inning walk-off home run on Opening Day. Gonzalez hit two home runs over 80 games with Somerset in 2016.

MONKEY OFF THEIR BACK: Just four games into the season, six different Patriots have already notched the first hits of their Somerset career. Tyler Bortnick, Darren Ford, Justin Pacchioli, and Jerry Sands have one apiece, while Alfredo Rodriguez and Olmo Rosario lead the way with three.

DONNY’S RETURN: After spending a year coaching under former Patriot hitting coach Shane Spencer, Adam Donachie is back for his 5th season with Somerset. The 2014 Atlantic League All-Star will be working as player/coach for the first time this season.

GET HOT, STAY HOT: The Somerset Patriots have won each of their first 4 games, sweeping the Lancaster Barnstormers. This year’s squad is looking to beat the 13 game winning streak that started the 2016 season.

SPEED 4 DAYZ: The Somerset Patriots rank second in the Atlantic League in steals (7), including six stolen bases in game one of Saturday’ doubleheader vs. Lancaster. Darren Ford leads the team with 3 steals.

THAT WAS CLASSIC: Returning in 2017 is pitcher Jeremy Bleich, who pitched for Team Israel in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. Bleich made three appearances for Israel in the tournament.

BACK AT THE HELM: The Somerset Patriots’ entire coaching staff remains intact from last season. Manager Brett Jodie enters his 5th season as Somerset’s skipper and 12th season on the coaching staff. Pitching Coach Cory Domel is also in his 5th season with the Patriots, while Hitting Coach Glen Barker enters his 2nd season. Volunteer Coach Fox Beyer is back for his 10th season with Somerset.

TOP 20: All season long, the Somerset Patriots will be unveiling their Top 20 players in franchise history. Three-year Somerset Patriots INF Corey Smith was just named the 19th greatest Somerset Patriot of all time. Follow along all season to find out who will join him!
