TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: 17 Patriots have had their contracts’ purchased in 2017: 12 by MLB organizations. LHPs Jeremy Bleich, Logan Darnell (twice) & Aaron Laffey along w/ RHPs Tyler Cloyd, Ryan Kelly, Vin Mazzaro, Mitch Atkins, INF Tyler Bortnick & OFs Jerry Sands, Christian Marrero and Justin Pacchioli had theirs’ purchased this season. RHPs Scott McGregor and David Kubiak & LHP Rick Teasley (Taiwan), INF Olmo Rosario (2X, Mexico) also had theirs’ purchased.

MERRY CLINCH-MAS: The Somerset Patriots won the First Half Liberty Division Championship & have now won an Atlantic League-record 18 half championships.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000: Carlos Guzman is currently just eight hits away from 1,000 over his professional career (all levels). The second-year Patriot currently leads the team in hits (101), at-bats (398), games (104) & ranks 2nd in RBI (52).

HOW SWEEP IT IS: Somerset just completed a three-game sweep of Bridgeport. It marked the sixth series-sweep this season for the Patriots, and the first since a four-game sweep of Southern Maryland in late July. Somerset pitchers have allowed six runs over this homestand, good for 1.50-combined ERA.

ROLL WITH THE CHANGES: Kyle Roller has reached base in 21 of his last 25 games (hits in 16-of-25). Over that stretch, Roller has seven home runs, 26 RBI and 17 BB. Despite 71 games this year, he ranks T-fifth in the league in home runs (19), eighth in RBI (63) and would lead the league in SLG (.592) if qualified. He is currently nine plate appearances shy of qualifying (at 315, needs 324).

IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp has reached base in 15 of 18 games, including hits in 12-of-18. Over this stretch, Trapp is 20-for-59 (.339) with seven 2B, eight walks, 10 runs and 11 RBI. He has also reached base in 22 of his 28 starts.

TRUST THE FORCE, LUKE: Six of Lucas Irvine’s last nine starts have been quality starts, yielding two runs or less in eight of his last nine. He is 4-1 over this stretch with a 2.39 ERA (14 ER over 52.2 IP), lowering his ERA from 4.91 to 3.76.

ALL ANTOL-IN: RHP Dustin Antolin has yet to give up an earned run since joining the Patriots. The former Toronto Blue Jay has spanned 15.0 innings in 14 total appearances, striking out 23 batters compared to just three walks.

E-XCELLENT STRETCH: LHP Efrain Nieves has tossed quality starts in six of his last eight, dating back to 7/19. Over this stretch, Nieves is 2-3 with a 2.45 ERA (13 ER in 47.2 IP) and 37 strikeouts, lowering his season ERA from 5.25 to 3.01.

ANTONINI SHINES: LHP Mike Antonini has impressed over his first six starts in Somerset, yielding just three runs over 29.0 IP (0.93 ERA). Additionally, he has allowed just six walks and 11 hits so far against 36 strikeouts, including a team-high 10 strikeouts August 13th and a no-hitter through six innings on August 19th.
