TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: 17 Patriots have had their contracts’ purchased in 2017: 12 by MLB organizations. LHPs Jeremy Bleich, Logan Darnell (twice) & Aaron Laffey along w/ RHPs Tyler Cloyd, Ryan Kelly, Vin Mazzaro, Mitch Atkins, INF Tyler Bortnick & OFs Jerry Sands, Christian Marrero and Justin Pacchioli had theirs’ purchased this season. RHPs Scott McGregor and David Kubiak & LHP Rick Teasley (Taiwan), INF Olmo Rosario (2X, Mexico) also had theirs’ purchased.

MERRY CLINCH-MAS: The Somerset Patriots won the First Half Liberty Division Championship & have now won an Atlantic League-record 18 half championships.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000: Carlos Guzman is currently just six hits away from 1,000 over his professional career (all levels). The second-year Patriot currently leads the team in hits (103), at-bats (411), games (108) & ranks 2nd in RBI (54).

BULLS IN THE PEN: Over the last eight games, Somerset’s bullpen has limited its opponent to just six earned runs over 36 innings (1.50 ERA). Additionally, the bullpen has combined for 36 strikeouts against nine walks, and opponents are hitting just a combined .239 (33-for-138) from the plate.

ROLL WITH THE CHANGES: Kyle Roller has reached base in 23 of his last 28 games (hits in 17-of-28). Over that stretch, Roller has seven home runs, 26 RBI and 20 BB. Despite 72 games this year, he ranks seventh in the league in home runs (19), 11th in RBI (63) and would lead the league in SLG (.590) if qualified. He is currently 11 plate appearances shy of qualifying (at 324, needs 335).

IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp has reached base in 19 of 22 games, including hits in 16-of-22. Over this stretch, Trapp is 29-for-76 (.382) with eight 2B, nine walks, 11 runs and 12 RBI. He has also reached base in 26 of his 32 starts.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT: Newly-signed D’Vontrey Richardson is 7-for-18 from the plate in his first five games with the Patriots. The former New Jersey Jackal also went a combined 5-for-8 with an RBI and a run in Somerset’s 8/30 doubleheader.

ALL ANTOL-IN: RHP Dustin Antolin has allowed just one earned run since joining the Patriots. The former Toronto Blue Jay has spanned 17.0 innings in 16 total appearances, striking out 24 batters compared to just three walks.

E-XCELLENT STRETCH: LHP Efrain Nieves has tossed quality starts in six of his last eight, dating back to 7/19. Over this stretch, Nieves is 2-3 with a 2.45 ERA (13 ER in 47.2 IP) and 37 strikeouts, lowering his season ERA from 5.25 to 3.01.

ANTONINI SHINES: LHP Mike Antonini has impressed over his first seven starts in Somerset, yielding just four runs over 33.0 IP (1.09 ERA). Additionally, he has allowed just eight walks and 15 hits so far against 39 strikeouts, including a team-high 10 strikeouts August 13th and a no-hitter through six innings on August 19th.
