TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: 17 Patriots have had their contracts’ purchased in 2017: 12 by MLB organizations. LHPs Jeremy Bleich, Logan Darnell (twice) & Aaron Laffey along w/ RHPs Tyler Cloyd, Ryan Kelly, Vin Mazzaro, Mitch Atkins, INF Tyler Bortnick & OFs Jerry Sands, Christian Marrero and Justin Pacchioli had theirs’ purchased this season. RHPs Scott McGregor and David Kubiak & LHP Rick Teasley (Taiwan), INF Olmo Rosario (2X, Mexico) also had theirs’ purchased.

MERRY CLINCH-MAS: The Somerset Patriots won the First Half Liberty Division Championship & have now won an Atlantic League-record 18 half championships.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000: Carlos Guzman is currently just five hits away from 1,000 over his professional career (all levels). The second-year Patriot currently leads the team in hits (104), at-bats (418), games (110) & ranks 2nd in RBI (55).

BULLS IN THE PEN: Over the last 10 games, Somerset’s bullpen has limited its opponent to just seven earned runs over 40.2 innings (1.55 ERA). Additionally, the bullpen has combined for 39 strikeouts against 10 walks, and opponents are hitting just a combined .237 (37-for-156) from the plate.

ROLL WITH THE CHANGES: Kyle Roller has reached base in 26 of his last 31 games (hits in 20-of-31). Over that stretch, Roller has eight home runs, 31 RBI and 24 BB. Despite 80 games this year, he ranks T-sixth in the league in home runs (20), T-8th in RBI (68) and would lead the league in SLG (.602) if qualified. He is currently seven plate appearances shy of qualifying (at 336, needs 343).

IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp has reached base in 21 of 23 games, including hits in 18-of-24. Over this stretch, Trapp is 32-for-83 (.385) with one homer, eight 2B, nine walks, 12 runs and 13 RBI. He has also reached base in 28 of his 34 starts.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT: Newly-signed D’Vontrey Richardson is 9-for-27 from the plate in his first eight games with the Patriots. The former New Jersey Jackal also went a combined 5-for-8 with an RBI and a run in Somerset’s 8/30 doubleheader.

ALL ANTOL-IN: RHP Dustin Antolin has allowed just two earned runs since joining the Patriots. The former Toronto Blue Jay has spanned 18.0 innings in 17 total appearances, striking out 24 batters compared to just three walks.

E-XCELLENT STRETCH: LHP Efrain Nieves has tossed quality starts in seven of his last nine, dating back to 7/19. Over this stretch, Nieves is 2-4 with a 2.52 ERA (15 ER in 53.2 IP) and 43 strikeouts, lowering his season ERA from 5.25 to 3.02.

ANTONINI SHINES: LHP Mike Antonini has impressed over his first seven starts in Somerset, yielding just four runs over 33.0 IP (1.09 ERA). Additionally, he has allowed just eight walks and 15 hits so far against 39 strikeouts, including a team-high 10 strikeouts August 13th and a no-hitter through six innings on August 19th.
