TOPS IN THE LEAGUE: 17 Patriots have had their contracts’ purchased in 2017: 12 by MLB organizations. LHPs Jeremy Bleich, Logan Darnell (twice) & Aaron Laffey along w/ RHPs Tyler Cloyd, Ryan Kelly, Vin Mazzaro, Mitch Atkins, INF Tyler Bortnick & OFs Jerry Sands, Christian Marrero and Justin Pacchioli had theirs’ purchased this season. RHPs Scott McGregor and David Kubiak & LHP Rick Teasley (Taiwan), INF Olmo Rosario (2X, Mexico) also had theirs’ purchased.

MERRY CLINCH-MAS: The Somerset Patriots won the First Half Liberty Division Championship & have now won an Atlantic League-record 18 half championships.

COUNTDOWN TO 1,000: Carlos Guzman is currently just one hit away from 1,000 over his professional career (all levels). The second-year Patriot currently leads the team in hits (108), at-bats (433), games (114) & ranks 2nd in RBI (56).

BULLS IN THE PEN: Over the last 12 games, Somerset’s bullpen has limited its opponent to just 12 earned runs over 57.1 innings (1.87 ERA). Additionally, the bullpen has combined for 59 strikeouts against 18 walks, and opponents are hitting just a combined .222 (48-for-216) from the plate.

ROLL AWAY YOUR STONE: Kyle Roller has reached base in 30 of his last 36 games (hits in 22-of-36). Over that stretch, Roller has 10 home runs, 36 RBI and 26 BB. Despite 85 games this year, he ranks fourth in the league in home runs (22), T-6th in RBI (73) and tied-sixth in BB (55). Roller would also lead the league in OBP (.433), SLG (.606), OPS (1.039) and rank third in AVG (.325) if qualified. He is currently one plate appearances shy of qualifying (at 356, needs 357).

IT’S A TRAPP: Justin Trapp has a hit in nine-of-10, over which he is 18-for-41 (.439). Additionally, he has reached base in 24 of 27 games, over which he is 38-for-100 (.380) with one homer, nine doubles, nine walks, 14 runs and 17 RBI.

WILL THE THRILL: Will Oliver struck out a team-high 13 batters in the Patriots’ first complete-game shutout of year on 9/8. He has now tossed back-to-back complete games with 20 combined strikeouts against three walks and seven hits over 16.0 IP, lowering his season-ERA from 5.54 to 4.80.

ALL ANTOL-IN: RHP Dustin Antolin has allowed just two earned runs since joining the Patriots. The former Toronto Blue Jay has spanned 18.0 innings in 17 total appearances, striking out 24 batters compared to just three walks.

BIG BAD JON: RHP Jon Hunton made his return to the mound on September 9th for the Patriots. The all-time Atlantic League saves king had not pitched since June 16th with a biceps injury. He has two saves this season over 12 games.

DUSTIN THE WIND: RHP Dustin Molleken recently retired 19-straight batters out of the bullpen from 8/23 – 9/4. Dating back his final out on 8/23, Molleken is 1-0 with one save & seven strikeouts over seven and 1/3 innings.
