FIRST PLACE BEST PLACE: Somerset has held at least a share of first place for every day so far this season. The Patriots were in held at least a share of first place for 72 straight-days in the first half last year, with only three days tied.
THE BURGER SPECIAL: C Adam Weisenburger has reached base safely in seven of his last eight games. He is 6-for-19 (.316) with two home runs, five runs and eight RBI over this stretch. That includes seven RBI in his last four games.
EASY BEING TEASLEY: LHP Rick Teasley returned from a two-week stretch on the inactive list on May 24th. Since his return, he has allowed just three earned runs over 20.2 IP in four starts, good for a 1.31 ERA and 19 strikeouts.
RIORDAN ROARIN’: RHP Cory Riordan set a Patriots season-high with 10 strikeouts in Sunday’s game in New Britain. He currently leads the league in IP (50.0), tied for seventh in K (36), fourth in BB/9 (1.44) and is fifth in ERA (3.06).
NO RELATION TO ROGER: Danny Dorn had a season-high 11 game hit streak end in game two on 6/13. He is now 17-for-44 (.386) with a home run and 15 RBI and has raised his AVG from .225 to .287 over his last 13 games.
SASSY MASSEY: IF Craig Massey had his season-high 14-game on-base streak end in game one on 6/13. He has now reached base in 15 of his last 17 games, having raised his OBP from .286 to .462 in the process. He is 22-for-57 (.386) from the plate with five steals, 10 RBI, 15 runs and 13 walks over this stretch. He has reached base in 35 of his last 70 plate appearances (.500 OBP) over his last 17 games. He is currently 23 PA shy of qualifying for league leaders.
ME AND JULIO: OF Julio Borbon has reached base safely in 15 of his last 16 games and is 26-for-81 (.321) with a HR, 10 RBI, eight SB and 16 runs over his last 20 games. He’s hit safely in 23 of his last 28 games, leads the league in doubles (14), is tied for third in XBH (19), and ranks eighth in SLG (.477).
NUMBAH ONE: Mike Fransoso has reached base in 16 of his last 19 games. He currently leads the league in OBP (.442) and ranks seventh in AVG (.330).
NO-GAN KENSING: RHP Logan Kensing has tossed eight-straight scoreless relief appearances, lowering his ERA from 2.77 to 1.68. He has struck out 10 batters against one walk over the 8.1 IP. Kensing has allowed four runs this season and has 23 strikeouts against four walks over his 21.1 innings of work.
K IS FOR KUBIAK: RHP David Kubiak filled up the box score again on Thursday night in the K department, striking out 10 Revolution hitters over 5.2 IP. He carries a 1.59 ERA and has allowed just four walks and 14 hits with 28 strikeouts in his first 22.2 innings pitched.
A LOT OF BUZZ: The Patriots welcome the New Britain Bees into town for arguably the most exciting weekend set of the year. The Patriots won the season series last year 12-7. Somerset outscored NB 107-79 in 2017. However, the Bees have won three of the first four meetings so far in 2018.
