1ST HALF LIBERTY DIVISION CHAMPIONS: The Patriots have clinched their 7th half division title under manager Brett Jodie and their league-record 19th half championship in franchise history. Somerset is now guaranteed a playoff spot. The Patriots have also owned a spot atop the Liberty Division standings in either half every day this season, a streak that has reached 94 days.
KUUUUBIAK: RHP David Kubiak has been lights out in his last four starts, going 3-0 with an ERA of 1.35. In the four starts, he has tossed 26.2 IP, with 22 hits, nine walks, and 31 K. Kubiak has also been filthy on the road this year. With his win @ LI on 7/20, he owns a perfect 5-0 road record and a 0.85 ERA, with 38 K and seven walks in 31.1 IP. He is now qualified and leads the league in ERA.
MAD MAN MASSEY: IF Craig Massey is riding a 13-game hitting streak, the longest on the team this year. During the streak, he has seven multi-hit games, and is 23-for-59 (.390) with a home run, seven RBI, and 10 runs scored. Massey ranks first in the league in OBP (.434), and second in hitting (.356).
NUMBAH ONE: Mike Fransoso has reached base safely in 21 of the last 22 games. His .405 on-base percentage ranks fourth in the league, while his .306 average ranks 11th. He also currently owns a 26-game on-base streak on the road, the longest streak in the league this year.
DOIN’ IT ALL: Yovan Gonzalez is proving just how valuable he is to this team lately. He has nine RBI in the last six games, and also has yet to commit an error this year. When Yovan is behind the dish, Somerset has a 3.05 ERA.
RAZOR RAMON: Ramon Flores has immediately endeared himself to Patriots fans. With two home runs on Friday night, Flores has been on a torrid start in his first 12 games with Somerset. He is hitting .314 with three home runs, seven RBI, nine runs, and a .907 OPS. He already has seven multi-hit games.
FEELIN’ FINE: Since returning from a lat injury that forced him to miss three weeks, Justin Trapp has quickly elevated his game. In the seven games since returning, he is 7-20 (.350) but has an OBP of .519 (14-27). Over this stretch, he has scored eight runs and has swiped seven bases, bringing his stolen base count to 20 on the year, which is good for fifth in the league.
WELCOME NATE: The Patriots have acquired INF Nate Coronado from Ottawa of the Can-Am league, after he was traded there from Lancaster. Coronado made his debut on 7/21 with a two-hit game, and is currently hitting .333 with two runs and a .400 OBP.
HOT ROD: Alfredo Rodriguez had quite the week on the road. He is currently riding a five-game hit streak, during which he is 10-21 (.476) with a .577 OBP, one home run, seven RBI, six runs, and two stolen bases. His OBP is now at .397.
LIKE MIKE: LHP Mike Antonini has been automatic out of the bullpen this season. Since June 16, he has tossed 12 IP with just one earned run (0.75 ERA), with just six hits, one walk, and 14 strikeouts. His WHIP this year is only 0.73.
