Somerset Patriots Ink MLB Pitcher Ryan Webb

Webb BlogsBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of right-handed pitcher Ryan Webb.

Webb enters his first season with the Somerset Patriots and the Atlantic League. He has eight seasons of MLB service with the San Diego Padres, Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Rays. He appeared in 18 games for the Rays during the 2016 season.

In six of his major league seasons, Webb appeared in over 40 games, including 65 and 66 in 2012 and 2013 respectively. His best season came in 2010 in San Diego when he finished 3-1 with a 2.90 ERA and 44 strikeouts over 59 innings pitched in 54 games.

For his Major League Baseball career, Webb is 17-18 with a 3.43 ERA and 271 strikeouts in 393.1 innings pitched in 375 games.

The Clearwater, Florida native also has seven seasons at the Triple-A level where he holds a career 12-5 record, a 3.59 ERA, five saves and 95 strikeouts in 120.1 innings pitched in 93 games.

After spending 2017 in Sacramento, the Triple-A affiliate for the San Francisco Giants, he began the 2018 season in the Chicago Cubs organization in the Arizona League and posted a 1.46 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched 11 games.

He has appeared in 584 minor league games, pitched in 1,037.1 innings in 209 games, and has 503 strikeouts.

Webb has been activated for Saturday night’s game against the Lancaster Barnstormers where he is expected to start.
