Somerset took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Mike Fransoso.
Ramon Flores then plated their second run in the next inning on an RBI single to right field for a 2-0 advantage.
The Patriots would extend the lead on a two-run double by Mike Ohlman in the bottom of the sixth inning that put Somerset up 4-0.
“I’ve been seeing the ball well the last couple of days,” said Ohlman, who finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI. “I’ve been taking good pitches that are balls and being aggressive. He left a pitch up with two strikes and two outs and I took advantage of it.”
The Bees got their lone run in the top of the eighth inning on a solo home run by Bijan Rademacher (1) for the 4-1 final.
Duane Below (1-0) picked up the win with two scoreless innings pitched. Cory Riordan (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits in four innings of work. Mike Antonini earned his first save of his professional career with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
