Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 6-3 to complete the four game sweep at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday night.
Sugar Land scored first in the top of the fourth inning on a solo homerun by Jason Botts (3).
The Patriots rallied in the bottom half of the fourth to take the lead. RBI base hits by Jesse Hoorelbeke, Jeff Nettles, Adam Donachie, and Rex Rundgren plated five runs for Somerset and gave them a 5-1 advantage.
A sacrifice fly by Aaron Mathews in the bottom of the fifth inning added another run for the Patriots and extended their lead to 6-1.
Ben Harrison drove the ball over the left field wall for his third homerun of the season to cut the Patriots lead to 6-2 heading into the ninth inning.
The Skeeters added a run in the ninth on an RBI groundout by Jimmy Van Ostrand for the 6-3 final.
Somerset starter Paul Phillips (2-0) got the win after allowing a run and striking out six in seven innings of work. Sugar Land starter Derrick Gordon (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing six runs on five hits in four innings pitched.
